Iona College women’s lacrosse head coach Michelle Mason has announced that Nicole Grote will be joining the Gael program as an assistant coach. Grote comes to Iona after being a staple competitor with the University of New Hampshire lacrosse team, earning multiple America East All-Conference accolades as a student-athlete.
While a member of the Wildcats, Grote was a team captain in her 2016 senior year, earning America East All-Conference Second Team and All-Tournament team honors. She was a member of the America East Honor Roll, an award that was granted to student-athletes of the America East that maintained a 3.0 GPA while contributing to the team’s success. Grote was also named to the All-Rookie Team her freshman season in 2013.
While maintaining the balance of being a student-athlete, Grote also found time to grow her coaching and leadership experience. Since 2013, Grote has served as the Director of the University of New Hampshire Lacrosse Middle School Camp; she was responsible for developing middle school camp itinerary and activities, as well as organizing and leading skill demonstrations.
Grote was also the Head JV Lacrosse Coach and Assistant Varsity Coach in 2015 at Oyster River High School in Durham, NH. Her coaching experience began in 2012-2013 at the M&D Club in Baltimore, MD where she assisted in developing rising juniors into Division I athletes.
As a student-athlete, Grote was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), Athletic Advisory Committee, and Senior Gift Committee. She graduated from New Hampshire in May 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology: Sports Studies with a concentration in Recreation Management and Event Programming.
