Anthony Bruno is entering his fourth season as the assistant coach for the Iona College men's and women's swimming & diving programs.

Iona College men's and women's swimming and diving head coach Nick Cavataro announced the appointment of Anthony Bruno as assistant coach for both squads in June 2013. Bruno comes to Iona after serving as assistant coach at Division III Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT.

During his time at Wesleyan, the Cardinals broke multiple individual records for on both sides and every relay record on the women’s side.

The team also went from one individual NCAA provisional qualifier to having seven women record NCAA “B” time standards in 2013. Coach Bruno worked with all groups during his time at Wesleyan but focused primarily on the sprinters. Coach Bruno was also apart of recruiting efforts during his time with the Cardinals as both squads climbed to the top the conference the last three seasons.

Coach Bruno has also been active on the club level as a member of the Cheshire YMCA/Sea Dog Swim Club staff. At Cheshire, Anthony worked with multiple Olympic trail qualifiers, YMCA national champions and multiple swimming top 16 athletes.

Before coming back to his home state of Connecticut, Bruno served as assistant swim coach and assistant aquatics director at Gulliver Prep in Miami, Florida.

Bruno is a 2009 graduate of Springfield College where he was a school record holder and a two-time honorable mention All-American selection. Earning honorable-mention All-America honors as part of the Pride’s 200 medley relay and 400 free relay, Tony was part of two school-record performances and came through with first-team and second-team all-NEWMAC honors at the conference meet during his career.
