Vinny DeMaria
Volunteer Assistant Coach

After an incredible succesful career as a student-athlete with the Iona College baseball program, Vinny DeMaria is returning to the program as a volunteer assistant coach.

DeMaria returns as a volunteer coach, after earning his degree in sociology from Iona in May. As a player, he appeared in 187 career games and served as the Gaels’ primary shortstop all four seasons with 180 starts at the position.

“I’m happy to have Vinny back with us. He knows the game, he knows the players, and he is ready for the transition into the coaching side of the game.” said head coach Pat Carey. “We expect to see the hard work he showed playing for us to translate as a coach.”

DeMaria’s is tied for fourth all-time at Iona in games played. He ranks 24th with 149 hits and his 636 at-bats are seventh all-time. He recorded 21 doubles and two triples with 64 runs scored and 60 runs batted in as a member of the Maroon & Gold. DeMaria was an All-MAAC performer following his junior campaign as he led the Gaels with a .320 batting average with 27 RBI, 16 multi-hit and eight multi-RBI efforts. His 57 hits in 2015 made him the 42nd Gael in program history to record a 50+ hit season.
