Katie Steiner was appointed the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance in October of 2016 following two years as a Compliance Intern within the Athletics Department at the University of Oregon.
Steiner is responsible for overseeing and monitoring all compliance rules and regulations within the department while also providing NCAA and MAAC rules interpretation and education to coaches, student-athletes, and department administrators. She is also in charge of monitoring and assisting with initial and continuing eligibility for prospective and current student-athletes. In addition, she conducts investigations and reports NCAA rule violations to the NCAA and MAAC.
While earning her JD from the University of Oregon School of Law, Steiner served as a compliance intern in Oregon’s Department of Athletics Compliance Office. As a compliance intern, she assisted in providing rules education to student-athletes, interpretations to coaches and department administrators, created a monthly compliance newsletter, among other tasks.
Steiner earned a degree in ballet and political science from the University of Utah in 2013 and received a Juris Doctorate from the University of Oregon School of Law in May 2016. Steiner passed the New York State Bar Exam in July 2016.
