Bronx, NY- On Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 the Iona College softball team took the 20-minute drive to Orchard Beach in the Bronx, to participate in the annual "Making Strides Against Breast Cancer" Walk.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer raises funds for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer research programs as well as local patient and family service programs. The team donned black t-shirts with a pink Iona College Softball logo while completing the three mile walk.

“This charitable event is a great way to create team camaraderie, but more importantly it brings awareness to a disease that affects people regardless of socio-economic status," said first-year head coach Jaime Wohlbach. "I am proud of my team for recognizing this event as a means to join the fight against breast cancer.”
