On Monday, the Iona College men's basketball team began an eventful day as the team made its way to Dayton, Ohio for its NCAA Championship First Round contest with Brigham Young University on Tuesday evening.
The day began with a 9:30 am practice at the Hynes Center where the Gaels got their first chance to game plan for the Cougars. Shortly after the completion of practice, the team was made available for media opportunities as numerous members local New York Press came to talk to the Gaels prior to their departure.
The Gaels then began their trip to the Buckeye State. A contingent large enough to fill two buses began the trek to Westchester Airport, where the Gaels chartered a plane for Dayton. After flying for roughly 90 minutes, the team touched down in Dayton International Airport. After arriving at its hotel, and were greeted by the familiar sound of bagpipes, the team gathered in the hotel for a late lunch and quick video brekadown of BYU.
Iona got its first taste of the University of Dayton Arena with an open practice Monday evening. Prior to the team hitting the court, head coach Tim Cluess, seniors Scott Machado and Mike Glover and junior Lamont Jones addressed the media and sat down with the broadcasters of tomorrow's contest.
