NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Rice Oval Field will be the site of the 2013 Iona College Softball Youth Day on Sunday, April 7th. As part of the celebration, youth softball teams from across Westchester have been invited to join Iona for a day full of fun and food.
The day will kick off with the Gaels battling Manhattan College in a double header at 12pm and 2pm. Following the games, the Iona Softball staff and players will lead our youth softball players in attendance in an hour long clinic, teaching them skills that will help improve their game and their confidence.
"We are very excited for the opportunity to host a youth softball day and skills clinic. We look forward to interacting with local youth players and sharing some of our knowledge on the fundamental softball skills," explained Iona head coach Melissa Inouye. "Getting involved and giving back to the local community is important for the growth of our softball program. Moving forward it is our goal to help enhance the local softball organizations so that one day we may find a future Iona Softball player. Thanks for your support and see you at Rice Oval this Sunday."
Both the clinic and the doubleheader are free to attend, and while on campus, fans can enjoy food from our tailgate area, hosted by Chartwells, which will be set up at the field from 12pm - 2pm. The Iona College Softball team has been active in the community for years and looks forward to presenting this great day to the families of Westchester County.
