NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College men's basketball head coach Tim Cluess has appointed Brock Erickson as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season. Erickson comes to New Rochelle from State College Florida Manatee and replaces Zak Boisvert who left the program for a position at Fairleigh Dickinson.

"We're excited to have Coach Erickson come on board," said Cluess. "His tireless work ethic and knowledge of the game will be a tremendous asset to the program."

"Brock has several years of experience at the Division III and junior college levels in the Metropolitan area and has established strong connections that will help us with recruiting as well," he added.

In his one season at SCF, Erickson led the Manatees to a No. 8 ranking in the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA). The program led the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) in scoring with a 95.1 ppg average. SCF captured the 2013 Suncoast Conference Tournament title and qualified for the state tournament for the third time in 15 years.

Erickson mentored incoming sophomore transfer Isaiah Williams at SCF, the 2013 Suncoast Conference Player of the Year. Williams and five Manatee teammates were also named to the Suncoast All-Conference team. The team had three players win FCSAA Player of the Week honors along with one picking up NJCAA Player of the Week honors.

Prior to State College Florida, Erickson served as an assistant coach at Monroe College in New Rochelle where he established himself as a strong tactician of the game. His Mustang squad played at the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS in each of his last three seasons at Monroe. Erickson had a track record of recruiting top talent from across the nation. He helped recruit four NJCAA All-American and 21 All-Conference players. Academically, he displayed a great deal of success as well. In five years at Monroe, 22 of his 25 sophomores graduated. While he was an assistant, the team held a record of 147-28, including a third place finish in 2011 and fifth place finish in 2012 at the national tournament. For much of the 2011-2012 season, Erickson’s team was ranked No. 1 in the nation for NJCAA Division I.

From 2004 to 2006, Erickson was the assistant coach at the College of Eastern Utah when the team had the highest win total over a two-year period in the college’s history. As assistant coach at City College of New York from 2001 to 2004, his team had the most wins in a season since 1950.

Erickson played college ball for two seasons at the University of Rhode Island under former Boston College coach Al Skinner before joining the basketball team at Assumption College in Worcester, MA.
