NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College baseball graduate Matthew Kriss was named All-ECAC Second Team at the utility position for his performance during the 2013 campaign. The honor follows an All-MAAC First Team selection this spring.
Kriss appeared in and started all 51 games for the Gaels in 2013. He batted .287 with a team leading seven doubles, 16 walks and 20 RBI. He also led the Gaels with 14 multiple hit and three multiple RBI efforts. Kriss' 15-game hitting streak from Apr. 13 - May 12 was the longest of the season and the longest in more than a decade for the Iona baseball program. A true utility player for the Gaels, Kriss started 27 games at third base, 17 games at short stop, four games at first base, three games as a designated hitter, and two games at pitcher.
He was also named to the MAAC All-Academic Team and maintained a 3.40 GPA while earning a management degree from Iona's Hagan School of Business.
