Release: Sunday 09/15/2013

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Iona College women's soccer team fell 3-0 to Navy on the road. Navy scored twice in the first 10 minutes of the contest and added a third goal in the final five to defeat the Gaels.

Ashlynn Soellner scored her first of two goals in the contest just 45 seconds in. Her unassisted goal came on a shot attempt just outside the 18-yard box. Morgan Dankanich gave Navy a 2-0 cushion in the eighth minute. She put home a Soellner rebound that was saved by netminder Trista Rivera.

Soellner scored again with 4:28 left in the contest on a header off a rebound.

Rivera made seven saves in the contest. Navy's Dayton Wetherby had one in second half action.

The Gaels complete the non-conference schedule with the loss and host Canisius Saturday (Sep. 21) to open MAAC play at Mazzella Field.
