BOSTON, MA - The Iona College track and field program completed three events throughout the first day of competition on the second day of the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships on Saturday.
Ross Wightman led the group with the mile preliminaries, turning in a 4:11.73 time for seventh in the second heat and 19th overall. In the women's mile, Egle Morenaite set a season-best behind a 4:56.74 clocking for 21st place. Gemma Nuttall added a 5:05.41 time for 31st.
Highlighting three competitors in the final race of the day for the Gaels, the women's 5,000 meters, was a personal best time of 16:57.19 for Cassandra Gill for 11th place in the final. The time was nearly 24 seconds better than her previous best of 17:21.59. Jessica Scheriff and Julia Flower finished back-to-back in the event, posting times of 17:23.71 and 17:30.97 for 17th and 18th respectively.
The Maroon & Gold return tomorrow for the final day of action, starting with the men's 3,000 meter.
