NEW ROCHELLE, NY - WNBC-4 New York news reporter Brynn Gingras will serve as guest coach for the Iona College women's basketball during its Saturday, February 16th matchup with Canisius College.
Gingras, a 2004 graduate of Yale University and former women's basketball team member, will sit on the Gaels bench as they take on the Golden Griffs in a matchup at the Hynes Center as the two teams battle for crucial late season seeding.
"I'm happy to welcome Brynn to our bench this Saturday," said head coach Anthony Bozzella. "She is an great example of a former player who has gone on to great things after her playing career, and someone I think will inspire our young ladies."
Gingras, who has recently covered stories regarding the Newtown School tragedy and Hurricane Sandy, will speak to the team prior to the game on the importance of teamwork and succeeding while dealing with adverse situations.
"It's a true honor to be back on the sidelines of a women's basketball game, even better to cheer on the Gaels," said Gingras. "So much of what I learned as a player has helped shape my career. I am thrilled to talk about my experiences at WNBC with the players and hopefully be a source of encouragement in their game."
Gingras will also serve as the halftime guest of Nick Guerriero and Jonathan Stanko during the radio broadcast.
Gingras was a four year member of the Bulldogs squad, serving as team captain and finishing her career with 577 points, 216 assists and 131 steals.
