17 Gaels Named To MAAC S&D All-Academic Team

Edison, NJ – 17 members of the Iona College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams were recognized prior to the start of the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference swimming and diving championships, as members of the All-Academic squad, as released by the conference office. 
Nine participants from the women’s team were named with eight from the men’s side. To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale.
Representing the women’s team were seniors Jamie Colburn, Briana Gongloff, Theresa Harvey, Kara Nowakowski and Victoria Ponzo. Juniors Melanie Dilascio, Kerri-Anne Dodenhoff and Maria Skeivys and sophomore Samantha Jaile combined for the nine Iona honorees. 
On the men’s side were seniors Zach Benoit, Cody Siemeck and Kristian Bocage. From the junior class Ryan Bacci, Justin Grigull, Nick Kotonias, Dennis O’Connor and Mark Wallace rounded out the Gael men. 
The MAAC swimming and diving championship will begin on Thursday morning held at the Flickinger Athletic Center on the campus of Erie Community College. Live video and stats will be made available through the MAAC.
