JACKSONVILLE, FL - Iona College women's outdoor track freshman Regina Neumeyer finished 18th overall in the 3,000-meter steeplechase quarterfinal at the NCAA East Preliminary at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium.
Neumeyer was sixth overall in her heat, just under five seconds shy of the final semifinal qualifier. Her time of 10:17.75 set a new Iona freshman and overall record in the 3k steeple chase. Neumeyer broke her own school record by more than two seconds set earlier this season at the Stanford Invitational on Apr. 6. Her top two times in the record book are nearly 14 seconds faster the No. 3 performer on the list.
Iona completes action at North Florida Saturday with four runners in action. Senior Heidi Gregson competes in the 1,500 meter quarterfinal at 6:45 pm before a trio of men's harriers close out the evening in the 5,000-meter semifinal. Junior Mitch Goose and rookies Jake Byrne and Andrew Kowalsky will represent the Maroon & Gold.
