BUFFALO WILD WING STUDENT-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK – Sean Armand, men’s Basketball
Iona College men’s basketball junior guard Sean Armand was named Buffalo Wild Wings Student-Athlete of the Week after being named MAAC Player of the Week.
Armand led the Gaels to two MAAC wins this weekend to extend the team's winning streak to a season-long five games. Armand averaged 25.5 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in wins at Marist and vs. Canisius. He shot 51.4% (18-for-35) from the field and 54.5% (12-for-22) from beyond the arc.
Against the Red Foxes, Armand scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds with three steals. He hit back-to-back three-point field goals to spark a 12-0 run that helped the Gaels erase an 11-point deficit in the second half. On Sunday, Armand matched his career-high with 32 points and set a Hynes Center record with nine three-point field goals in a win over the Golden Griffins. The third-year guard eclipsed 200 three-pointers for his career and became the second player in school history to reach the milestone. He averages a league-best 4.0 three-point field goals per game in 17 appearances this season.
