Daniel Huertas - Men's Soccer

Sophomore Daniel Huertas continued his hot offensive trend this past week, scoring a goal and registering two assists in a 1-1 week for the Iona men’s soccer program.

Against nationally recognized Rider University, Huertas scored the Gaels lone goal in a tough 2-1 loss on the road.  The Broncs scored the game-winner on a penalty kick in the latter moments of the second half.

On Saturday, Oct. 22, Iona bounced back and picked up a crucial road win at Niagara, 3-1.  The 2015 Co-Rookie of the Year and All-MAAC First Team selection had two assists, the first coming on the game’s first goal by junior Marcos Nunez, and the second on the Maroon & Gold’s third insurance goal netted by sophomore Daniel Ocana.

Thus far in his career with the Maroon & Gold, Huertas ranks 5th all-time in program history averaging 1.19 points per game, and sixth with 0.48 goals per game.  He attempts a program-high 4.19 shots per game, and already sits seventh all-time in total shots as just a second year player.

Huertas is averaging 1.38 points per game, the eighth-best for a single season.  His 0.54 goals per game is tied for ninth-best.
