Kieran Clements - Men's Cross Country

The Iona College men's cross country program won its 26th consecutive Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championship this past Saturday.  Graduate Kieran Clements was the leader of the Maroon & Gold pack, leading the group of seven Gaels who all cross the finish line within 0.65 seconds of each other.

Clements clocked in at at 24:38.37 in the final MAAC Cross Country race of his collegiate career.  He has acted as a leader and role model for the Maroon & Gold, and his example was a main reason for Iona's perfect score of 15 points.  It was the largest margin of victory ever for a program in MAAC cross country championship history.  The Gaels conference winning streak of 26 straight is the longest active streak in NCAA Division I.

Following Clements, Freshman Jac Hopkins impressed in his first taste of MAAC Championship action, placing second in 23:38.64. Junior Johannes Motschmann and sophomore Liam Dee crossed the finish line in line with each other, placing third and fourth in the event in 24:38.72 and 24:38.73 respectively.  Junior Chartt Miller (24:38.77) placed fifth followed by junior Gilbert Kirui (24:38.97), and juniors Brandon Allen (24:39.02) and Andrew Tario (25:04.60).
