Rachel Garn - Women's Cross Country

The Iona College women's cross country program captured the 2016 MAAC championship last Saturday morning.  The team has now won 11 of the last 12 conference titles.

Junior Rachel Garn was the top performer for the Maroon & Gold, crossing the finish line in third place with a time of 21:27.83.  She was followed closely by teammate senior Teghan Henderson who placed fourth in 21:29.77.

Iona won the title by two points, the third smallest margin of victory in the history of the conference championship.

The Gaels placed nine runners in the top 25: Freshman Gemma Nuttall(22:03.99) placed 10th, junior Cassandra Gill (22:14.50) placed 15th, followed by sophomore Jessica Scheriff(22:23.36) in 17th. Sophomores Julia Kearley (22:23.72) Orlaith Moynihan (22:28.79), freshman Julia Flower(22:33.99), and sophomore Daniele Martino (22:43.30) finished in 18th, 19th, 21st, and 25th respectively.
