Collin Purrman - Men's Swimming & Diving
The Iona men's swimming program is off to their best start in nearly two decades, and senior Collin Purrman played a key part over the past week in a pair of dual meet wins agaisnt Monmouth and Providence.
On Friday, Nov. 11, Purrman was one of numerous Gaels to aid in the sweeping of all 13 individual events. In the 100-IM, Purrman reset his own school record when he touched the wall in 55.40, a full two seconds better than his personal best. He also recorded a first place finish in the 200-Free at 1:46.73.
On Saturday, Nov. 12, the Gaels toppled Providence 160-88, improving to 5-0-1 on the season. Purrman was part of the winning 200-yard medley team, and he followed it up with a win in the 200-Butterfly (1:58.82).
Iona continues its season on Friday, Dec. 2 in the annual H2ounds Invitational. Loyola Maryland will host the Gaels, Saint Peter's and Marist down in Baltimore, MD for a two-day competition.
