Alexis Lewis - Women's Basketball
Sophomore Alexis Lewis put forth a historic performance on Saturday against St. Francis Brooklyn. In a decisive 62-46 win, Lewis netted 25 points in just 23 minutes, registering her fifth 20 points game of the season.
Lewis shot 9-for-17 from the floor, and 7-of-10 from beyond the arc. Her seven three-point field goals ties the Iona single-game record, which was last reached in the Gaels’ NCAA Tournament appearance last year by junior Philecia Atkins-Gilmore.
In addition to the scoring, Lewis matched career-high with four steals to go along with four rebounds, and one block.
As of Sunday, Dec. 18, Lewis leads the MAAC in scoring (18.6 PPG), and ranks top five in three-point shooting percentage, three-pointers per game, rebounds per game, free throw percentage, and minutes per game.
Her 27 three-point field goals ranks 46th in the NCAA. She has scored 186 points this season, the 43rd highest total in the nation.
Iona concludes its non-conference slate tomorrow evening against BIG 10 opponent Penn State at 7 PM.
