Kieran Clements - Men's Indoor Track & Field

The Iona College men's indoor track & field program placed third at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Indoor Track & Field Champions.  Graduate Kieran Clements stepped up to help the Maroon & Gold, particularity on day one when he won the 5,000-meter race in recording breaking fashion.

Clements broke the MAAC Championship record crossing the finish line at 14:15.47, breaking teammate junior Gilbert Kirui's old record time by six seconds.  Kirui finished the 2017 race in second at 14:18.25.

In the 3,000-meter race, Clements placed second with a time of 8:16.86.  He was bested by Kirui who crossed the finish line in 8:13.37.  Iona swept the top five spots in the event.

The Gaels scored 113 points as a team, 36 points behind conference champion Rider.

The indoor season continues for the Maroon & Gold with multiple last chance/multi dual meets.  The IC4A Championships begin on Saturday, March 4 and the NCAA Championships takes off on Friday, March 10.
