Cassandra Gill - Women's Outdoor Track & Field

Senior Cassandra Gill capped off her finel MAAC Championship in fantastic fashion.  She won a pair of gold medals and was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Female Track Performer of the Meet.

On Saturday, May 6, Gill paced herself to a winning time of 35:50.49 in the 10,000 meter race for her first ever conference podium topper.  She ran her fastest lap in 1:22.937 during her third go-around.

The Wyoming, PA native earned her second gold of the weekend on Sunday, May 7 in the 5,000 meter.  Gill cocked in at a time of 17:20.33, beating out teammate senior Rachel Garn who knotched second.

Off the track, Gill was named to the 2017 MAAC Outdoor All-Academic Team; she is studying info systems.

In addition to both senior Charyy Miller and Gill being named the two Track Performers of the Meet, freshman Gemma Nuttall added a MAAC Rookie of the Meet to the women's side.

Overall, the Gaels placed fifth at the MAAC Championship, registering 71 team points.

 The Gaels season is far from over for the Maroon & Gold.  They will compete at the ECAC Championships in Princeton, NJ beginning on Friday, May 12.  That gathering will be followed up with the Swarthmore Last Chance and NCAA East Preliminaries.
