Chartt Miller - Men's Outdoor Track & Field

Senior Chartt Miller began the 2017 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship by recording the fastest time in the men's preliminary 1,500 meter race at 4:00.83.

The recently named 2016-17 Joseph E. O'Connell Award winner dominated the track on Sunday, May 7.  Miller recorded a winning time of 3:53.94 in the 1,500 meter race, besting his preliminary time by nearly seven seconds.  Miller was also part of the 5,000 meter race on Saturday, May 6 where he placed second behind teammate sophomore Gilbert Kirui.

Following the conclusion of the Championship, Miller was named the 2017 MAAC Male Track Performer of the Meet.  Iona finished fourth among eight teams, garnering 94 points.

Off the track, Miller was named to the 2017 MAAC Outdoor Track & Field All-Academic Team.  He is studying managment.

The Gaels season is far from over for the Maroon & Gold.  They will compete at the IC4A Championships in Princeton, NJ beginning on Friday, May 12.  That gathering will be followed up with the Swarthmore Last Chance and NCAA East Preliminaries.
