The Iona College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) donated over $300 to the Young Survival Coalition. On Sunday, February 14th and Friday February 19th members of the Iona College SAAC sold pink ribbons and 50/50 raffles at the Men’s Basketball games as part of the SAAC breast cancer awareness campaign.  SAAC members reached out to the many Gael fans in attendance to help support the Young Survival Coalition through donations.

About the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) consists of representatives from each varsity team and is run by the student-athletes.  The purpose of the SAAC is to encourage communication between the Athletics Department and student- athletes; provide a forum for student-athletes to discuss issues of concern; promote unity between and among athletic teams at Iona College; and encourage support for the Iona College Athletics Department in both the campus and local communities through service activities.

About Young Survival Coalition

Young Survival Coalition (YSC) is the premier international organization dedicated to the critical issues unique to young women and breast cancer. YSC works with survivors, caregivers and the medical, research, advocacy and legislative communities to increase the quality and quantity of life for women diagnosed with breast cancer ages 40 and under.  The organization was founded by three young breast cancer survivors in 1998. All under the age of 35 at diagnosis, they were discouraged by the lack of information and resources available to young women, and concerned about the under-representation of young women in breast cancer studies.
