Lauren DeFalco was named an assistant coach for the women's basketball program in May, 2010.  With the Gaels, DeFalco will be in charge of the team's guards as well assist with scouting and recruiting.  She spent the previous two seasons as an assistant coach at Sacred Heart, where she assisted in all aspects of the Pioneer program. 

DeFalco donned Maroon & Gold under head coach Anthony Bozzella's wing from 2004-2008 and graduated as Iona's all-time leader in games played, a record she held for two years.  A key part of helping rebuild the Iona women's basketball program, DeFalco helped lead the Gaels to the sixth best turnaround in the country in win totals in 2005-06 and to consecutrive berths in the Women's National Invitation Tournament in 2007 and 2008.  As a senior, she earned Tournament MVP honors after leading Iona to the program's first regular season tournament championship winning the Bank of Hawaii Invitational. 

She finished her career with 1,035 points and is Iona's all-time record holder in three-point field goals made with 167. She is seventh all-time in assists with 315 and fifth in three-point field goal percentage (35.4%). Twice she earned a spot on the MAAC All-Tournament team as a junior and a senior after leading the Gaels to back-to-back Championship Game appearances.

A Dean's List student all-four years at Iona, DeFalco earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a History concentration.  The East Brunswick, NJ native excelled in the classroom, earning a spot on the MAAC All-Academic Team her sophomore through senior seasons.  While at SHU, she earned her Master of Arts and Teaching degree.
