Since the beginning of the 2012 season, outfielder Eileen McCann of the Iona College softball team took fans inside the world of not only an Iona softball player, but that of a student-athlete with her blog postings on  On the field, McCann was a four-time MAAC Champion, one of just four players in conference history to earn just a distinction.  McCann earned her undergraduate degree in mass communications  with a concentration in public relations and began her graduate studies in the fall of 2013.  After being sidelined by injury during the 2013 season, McCann returned to earn MAAC Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2014 and ended her career as Iona's all-time leader in home runs, hits, runs and runs batted in.  Her 2014 batting average of .432 is a single-season record and her .334 career average in seventh best all-time.
