NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College volleyball head coach Jon Killingbeck announced his summer camp dates for 2012. The four camps will run on dates in July and August and will be open to student-athletes from grades 4-12.
Coaches for the camp include Killingbeck assistant coach Alyssa Morales, as well as a number of Iona College student-athletes.
Prior to coming to Iona last August, Killingbeck spent the spring 2011 semester at Columbia Basin College, joining the ranks as 2010 came to a close. Prior to accepting the head coaching position at CBC, he spent one season as an assistant coach at Arizona Western College in Yuma (AWC), Arizona. Killingbeck joined the AWC staff after working as the lead assistant coach at Division III Whitman College in Walla Walla, WA where he assisted with recruiting efforts, film study, strength training, and practice organization. Prior to that he served as an assistant coach and director of volleyball operations at Seattle University where he assisted with recruiting, scouting, and video editing. While at SU, Killingbeck earned a master's degree in sports administration and leadership, graduating with honors in the summer of 2009.
Designed to meet the needs of athletes entering grades 8-12. The focus is on all aspects of the game, with the emphasis on fundamentals skills such as serving, serve receiving, passing, digging, setting, attacking, team defense, blocking, and system play. Cost for three full days of camp is $275 if registered before May 1st or $325 if registered after.
Young Gaels Camp
July 17-20 - 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Designed to introduce and improved the fundamentals of athletes entering 4-7th grade. The focus is to introduce all fundamental skills such as serving, serve receiving, passing, digging, setting, attacking, and 6-on-6 play. Cost for four nights, three hours per night, of training is $100 if registered before May 1st or $125 if registered after.
July 27-29 - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
For student-athletes heading into 7th-12th grade. The camp is two separate camps: hitting and a setting camp. Each camp is to advance hitting skills and setting techniques through drills, film, and games. Hitter’s camp will teach how to attack from all positions, how to hit multiply shots and develop a better understanding of what defensive systems give you. The setter camp is designed to improve all aspects of setting including tempo, arch, and developing a better understanding of how to run your offense. Cost for these three days of camp is $275 if registered before May 1st or $325 if registered after.
August 11-12 - 9:00 am - 5:00 pm
For student-athletes heading into 7th-12th grade. Do you want to knock some rust off before high school tryouts? This camp will go over all fundamental skills, offensive system play, defensive system play, and will help get you ready for your tryout. Cost for this two day of camps is $175 if registered before May 1st or $225 if registered after.
