Iona head women's soccer coach Mike Barroquiero has announced the addition of Taylor Wilson to his staff as an assistant coach for the 2012-13 season. Wilson is a 2011 graduate of Seton Hall University, where she obtained a degree in athletic training.
“I am so excited to welcome Taylor to the Iona family! It was a thorough search process but early on I put together a list of must-haves and without a doubt, Taylor meets and exceeds each one!”
In 2011, Wilson led Seton Hall with 14 points this season, tallying four goals to go along with a team-high six assists. She receives All-BIG EAST accolades for the first time in her career. Wilson finished her career with five goals and 12 assists for 22 points. Her 12-career assists rank fourth in school history and the sixth assists in 2011 are the fourth most for a Pirate in a single season.
Wilson tied for eighth in the BIG EAST in assists and 10th in assists per game. She received a number of awards throughout the season as she was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll (Aug. 23), the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week (Sept. 19) and the CollegeSoccer360.com and SoccerAmerica.com National Player of the Week on Sept. 20.
“Taylor has an incredible passion for the game and her positivity is infectious. You add that to her stellar playing career at the highest levels of women’s soccer and you have the makings of a wonderful young coach! We pride ourselves on always taking steps forward as a program and bringing in someone like Taylor is yet another huge step in the right direction for us.”
