NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College senior guard Lamont Jones earned several accolades for his performance at the 2012 USVI Paradise Jam. Jones was named to the All-Tournament Team, MAAC Player of the Week and CollegeInsider.com's Lou Henson Award National Player of the Week honors.
Jones averaged 27.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in three games in St. Thomas. He posted 40 points in the team's opener vs. Quinnipiac to break the single-game tournament record formerly held by Wisconsin's Alando Tucker in 2005. Jones' 83 total points shattered the three-game Paradise Jam record. Xaiver's Tu Holloway posted 72 points over three contests in 2010.
Jones was named to the All-Tournament team along with MVP Kendall Williams from New Mexico, the Lobos' Tony Snell, UConn's Shabazz Napier and Ryan Boatright and George Mason's Sherrod Wright.
Jones earned MAAC Player of the Week honors for the second time in his career. The first came Feb. 6, 2012 following a 43 point performance against Canisius. Since head coach Tim Cluess took the reigns in 2010-11, Iona players have earned 17 MAAC weekly honors.
