NEW ROCHELLE, NY - A memorial service for former Iona College associate men's basketball coach and Memphis Grizzlies assistant GM Kenny Williamson, will be held Sunday, December 2 at 1:30 pm at Spellman Hall on Iona's campus. A reception will follow in Hynes Center West.
Williamson spent 21 years on the college sidelines under the likes of former Iona head coach Jim Valvano, St. John’s icon Lou Carnesecca and Louisville’s Denny Crum. He also coached at Columbia and Florida State, serving as assistant and associate head coach.
When he decided to leave the college ranks, Williamson moved to the NBA scouting department and worked in the New York Knicks organization during the Pat Riley era. He also spent time with the Charlotte Bobcats as the Director of Scouting.
