EDISON, NJ - Iona College freshman forward Joy Adams earned her seventh MAAC Rookie of the Week honors after posting a pair of double digit scoring efforts in the Gaels' two conference matchups this past week.
Adams averaged 17.5 points and 7.5 rebounds for the Gaels, connecting on 50% (14-for-28) of her shot attempts. Against Manhattan, Adams posted a season high 23 points on 10-for-18 shooting and pulled down a game high nine rebounds, including five on the offensive glass. Against Marist, Adams scored 12 points, had one block and grabbed six rebounds.
This season, Adams is averaging 13.1 points and a conference leading 9.5 rebounds per contest. Adams has connected on 49.4% of her field goal attempts this season, and is posting an average of 17.3 points per game in conference play. Adams has also connected on a league leading 56.9% of her shots in league play.
Iona begins a three game homestand Friday evening, when they host Fairfield at the Hynes Center for a 6:00 pm. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3 in the first contest of a doubleheader with the men's squad.
