EDISON, NJ - Iona College women's basketball freshman Joy Adams has been named MAAC Rookie of the Week for the ninth time this season for her performance in the team's weekend split of two contests on the road, as announced by the conference today.
Adams averaged 14.5 points and 7.5 rebounds in games at Siena and Fairfield, while shooting 56.5% (13-of-23) from the field. Along with sophomore Aleesha Powell, Adams scored a team high 11 points against the Saints and grabbed five rebounds.
Adams then scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the Gaels' win at Fairfield. Adams connected on eight of her ten attempts from the field and collected her eighth double-double of the season, matching the most in a single season by an Iona player since 2008-09.
Iona is back in action Thursday, when they welcome first place Marist to the Hynes Center for a 4:30 pm tip.
