Buffalo, NY – The Iona College men’s swimming and diving team moved up one spot on the second day of competition at the MAAC Championships and sit in ninth place. 

In the 200-Medley Relay, the Gaels placed sixth at 1:34.41 (ECAC “A”) and in the 800-Free Relay,  team placed seventh at 7:00.26. 

Senior Chris Yacobacci placed fifth in the 400-IM, clocking in at 4:05.53, qualifying for ECAC “A”.  Junior Nick Kotonias also qualified with a 4:14.63.  Yacobacci also took sixth in the 100-Breast at 56.76 and junior Chris Giovine placed 16th also qualified for ECAC “A”. 

Junior Justin Grigull placed third in the 200-Free, with a personal best of 1:40.80, qualifying for ECAC “A”. 

The Gaels will conclude the MAAC Championships on Saturday at 10 am.
