Lacrosse Falls to #14 UMass on Saturday Afternoon
AMHERST, MA - The Iona College lacrosse team dropped a 22-6 decision to #14 Massachusetts n Saturday afternoon at McGuirk Stadium.
Senior Kylie Gregory led the Gaels with three points on two goals and an assist. Classmate Brittney Mabus added a goal and an assist, while juniors Nina Veneziale and Jenna Stone and freshman Mary Kate McCormick also adding tallies.
Junior Maria Ortiz made two saves and allowed 11 goals in 27 minutes of action. Sophomore Blaire Nathanson also allowed 11 goals, but made three saves.
UMass was led by Lauren Terracciano with five goals and three assists. Cory Murray and Sam Rush had four goals and two assists each in the win. The Minutewomen used three goalies in the win, with starter Rachel Vallarelli allowing four goals in the opening half.
The Gaels will return to Mazzella Field for a Wednesday afternoon meeting with Quinnipiac at 3 p.m.
