Ohio State claimed the No. 2 seed after winning the Big Ten Conference championship over Wisconsin prior to the selection show. The Buckeyes finished the season with a 26-7 record and are currently #10/9 in the AP/USA Today national top-25 poll.
Ohio State is led by All-Big 10 first team member Deshaun Thomas averaging 19.5 points per contest. The Buckeyes under eighth-year head coach Thad Matta averaged just less than 70 points per game and have squandered just 80 points once this season in a loss to Indiana.
The winner will take on No. 7 Notre Dame / No. 10 Iowa State on Sunday (Mar. 24). The selection marks the tenth NCAA appearance for the Gaels and first back-to-back appearance since 2000 and 2001.
