NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College women's water polo graduate Mackenzie Mone is currently in Israel preparing to represent the United States in the 2013 Maccabiah Games. The 19th annual event is set to begin on July 17. The Maccabiah Games, the world's third largest international sporting competition, features over 7,000 Jewish athletes competing in over 35 sports.
The United States team begins play on July 21, when it takes on Brazil before a matchup with Hungary on July 23.
The team's final matchup of the Round Robin is July 25 against Israel. The third place game and championship game will be held the following day on July 26.
In four years with the Gaels, Mone amassed 369 points, fifth all-time on 274 goals and 95 assists. Mone sits fourth all-time in goals and sixth in assists and earned All-MAAC honors on three occasions. Mone also holds several accolades as a member of Iona's swim team.
