Mone Helps USA To Gold At 2013 Maccabiah Games

Iona College women's water polo graduate Mackenzie Mone picked up a gold medal as the United States ran away with a 4-0 mark at the 2013 Maccabiah Games in Jerusalem.

Following a three goal effort by Mone in an impressive 31-1 victory over Brazil in the team's first preliminary match, the US team then defeated Hungary 19-3 and Israel 11-7 to earn a berth in the title game.  In the gold medal contest against Israel, Mone scored four goals as the United States took a 14-6 victory.

Entering today's final day of events, the United States is currently second overall in the medal count with 116.  Israel is the overall leader with 204 medals, including 67 gold.
