Men's XC/Track Adds 13 for 2013-14

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College men's cross country / track and field head coach Ricardo Santos announced the addition of 13 student-athletes for the 2013-14 campaign. The following is a rundown of the newest Gael harriers:

Andy Adamovics - Skillman, NJ - Montgomery High School
A distance performer who was a two time New Jersey Meet of Champions Qualifier.

Brandon Allen - Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada - General Amherst High School
A distance performer and 3k champion and 2k steeple chase runner-up at the OFSAA (Ontario HS Champs) this past June. Allen was second in the 5k and third in the 3k steeple chase at the Canadian junior championships while also serving as a member of of Canada's 2013 World Junior Cross Country team.

Personal Best Times:
1500m: 3:50; 2k chase: 5:45; 3k chase: 9:06; 3k: 8:14; 5k: 14:43.

Gabriel Dasilva - Albertson, NY - Herricks High School
A middle distance and hurdler.

Personal Best Times:
800m: 1:56.22; 400H: 57.12.

Daniel Galford - Staten Island, NY - Monsignor Farrell High School
A distance performer and runner up in the 2011 New York State Federation cross country championship and sixth in in a highly competitive 2012 event. He was also the 2012 CHSAA Intersectional champion. Galford was also a Nike Cross Country National Qualifier.

Xavier King - Ajax, Ontario, Canada - Pickering High School
A transfer from Abilene Christian University and member of Canadian World Junior Cross Country team. Earned All-Lone Star Conference honors at the cross country championship meet as ACU's top performer.

Personal Best Times:
5k: 14:45; 3k chase: 9:01; 1500m: 3:52.38.

Thomas McClellan - Gloversville, NY - Mayfield High School
A distance performer and All-State First Team performer after finishing sixth in the 2012 New York State Public High School Athletic Association cross country championship. He holds his high school record in the mile, two-mile, 3k and as a member of the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams.

Personal Best Times:
3200m: 9:34; Mile: 4:22.41.

Justin Middleton - Auburn, NY - Auburn High School
A distance performer, ranked among the Top 10 in Section III cross country throughout the 2012 season. Middleton was a high school All-American in 2012 in the 2,000-meter steeple chase event. He was the 2012 and 2013 Section III steeple chase champion.

Chartt Miller - Perth, Australia - Ocean Reef High School
A highly touted middle-distance and distance performer, he was a bronze medalist in the Australian junior cross country championship and the World Schools championship in Malta in 2012. Miller was born in South Africa and emigrated to Australia in 2000.

5k: 14:41; 1500m: 3:48.33; 800m: 1:53.78

Nick Sciuto - Westford, MA - Westford Academy
A middle distance performer and finished eighth in the 1,000-meter event at the 2013 Massachusetts State Indoor Track and Field Championships.

Ryan Sleiman - Kingsville, Ontario, Canada - Kingsville High School
A distance performer and reigning 5,000-meter Canadian Junior National Champion. Sleiman defeated former Essex county rival and now Gael teammate Brandon Allen at the event this July. He also finished 43rd in the World Junior Cross Country Championship while representing Canada and was third in the OFSAA 3,000-meter championship.

3k: 8:17; 5k 14:28,

Kalen Sullivan - Buffalo, NY - West Seneca West High School

A middle distance performer that comes to Iona as a seven-time Section VI champion and eight time state qualifier in track and field. He holds seven West Seneca West records. Sullivan finished eighth in the 2012 New York State Federation 800-meter event.

Personal Best Times:
1600m: 4:24.81; 800m: 1:54.72; 400m: 50.48

Andrew Tario - West Sand Lake, NY - Averill Park High School
A distance performer who finished 10th at New York State Federation Cross Country Championship. Tario is a two-time Rensselaer County cross country champion and federation championship qualifier. He was named All-Region Third Team in 2012 and qualified for both the indoor and outdoor track and field state championships in 2013.

Personal Best Times:
3200m: 9:10; Mile: 4:20.7

Ross Wightman - Chatham, NY - Chatham High School

A distance performer and steeple chase specialist, Wightman finished third at the 2012 New Balance National Championship. This January, he set a national record in the invitation-only, one-mile steeplechase in a time of 4:38.44, shattering the previous record by 12 seconds at the Armory Track and Field Center in New York City.

3k chase: 9:30; 2k chase: 6:04; Mile: 4:22.38
