Women's XC/Track Adds Seven for 2013-14

NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Iona College women's cross country / track and field head coach Ricardo Santos announced the addition of seven student-athletes for the 2013-14 campaign. The following is a rundown of the newest Gaels:

Gabrielle Del Bene - Albany, NY - Guilderland
A sprinter / jumper that competed multiple times at the New York State qualifying meet.

Personal Best Times:
200m: 27.49 (Eddy Games); 200m: 27.72 (NYS Qualifiers, 8th place preliminaries)

Cassandra Gill - Wyoming, PA - Holy Redeemer
A distance performer with numerous accolades from her home state of Pennsylvania. Gill was All-State in cross country and track from her sophomore to senior campaigns. She helped lead her high school to seven district championships in both sports. Gill holds her school record in the 3,000-meter event and was Holy Redeemer’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Victoria Moynihan - Hampton Bays, NY - Hampton Bays
A sprinter / thrower that qualified for the New York State Championships in the 100-meter hurdles and discus events. Moynihan held her school’s record in the discus event and the No. 2 height in the pole vault.

Maya Rehberg - Bad Segeberg, Germany - Stadtisches Gymnasium Bad Segeberg
A distance performer and German junior track champion in the 3,000-meter and 2,000-meter steeple chase events. Rehberg also performed well on the world and European stage. She finished sixth at 2012 World Junior Championships in the 3k steeple chase. She was third in the 2012 European Junior Cross Country Championships, the 2013 Euro Junior 3k steeplechase and sixth in the Euro Junior 5k.

Personal Best Times:
1500: 4:20.55; 2k chase: 6:22.06 (German Jr National record); 3k chase 10:00.04; 5k: 16:30.49

Kerri Sexton - Sunnyside, NY - The Mary Louis Academy
A distance performer that finished fourth in the Brooklyn/Queens CSHAA Championship 1500-meter event

Marianna Sticca - Gramby, CT - Gramby Memorial
A sprinter from Connecticut that medaled in various indoor and outdoor conference and state championship. Sticca also holds seven Gramby Memorial High School records.

Zoe Wojtech - Bernardsville, NJ - Bernards
A distance performer whose scholastic highlights include a fourth place finish in the Championship of America distance medley relay at the 2012 Penn Relays. Also finished third in the 2013 national 4 x mile event.

Personal Best Times:
1600m: 5:04.11; 3200m: 10:57.14; 2k chase: 7:19; 800m split: 2:14.5 (New Jersey Meet of Champions 3rd Place 4x800m team); 1200m split: 3:35 (leading off on All-American Distance Medley Relay)
