PROVIDENCE, RI - The Iona College men's water polo team fell to Brown University 16-5 Saturday evening in CWPA North action at at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center.
The Gaels' offense was stifled early as Iona was unable to find the net in the first quarter, allowing the Bears to get out to a 5-0 lead after the initial eight minutes of play. By the time Iona picked up its first goal with 4:59 remaining in the second, Brown held a strong 6-1 lead. The Bears would then end the period on a 3-1 run and take a 9-2 lead into half time. Brown would score the first two goals of the third quarter and took a 13-4 lead into the fourth before adding three more goals in the fourth to take the 16-5 victory.
The Gaels are back in action, when they host St. Francis Brooklyn at the Hynes Center Wednesday at 7:30 pm.
