NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Five players recorded double-digits and the Iona College men's basketball team led wire-to-wire in an 89-73 win over George Mason in non-conference action at the Hynes Center. Senior Sean Armand led the way with 30 points and became Iona's all-time three-point king with four trifectas in the game.

Armand shot 10-of-16 from the field and was 4-for-10 from beyond the arc. His fourth three-pointer with 8:21 remaining in the contest was the 264th of his career surpassing Steve Burtt's seven-season old mark of 263 set in 2006. He added three rebounds and three assists and was 6-of-7 from the charity stripe.

Sophomore A.J. English continued to thrive in his new role at point guard posting 18 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Junior David Laury added 14 points and nine rebounds while senior Tre Bowman had 11 points and six boards and senior Mike Poole had 10 points and four rebounds in the win. Sophomore guard Isaiah Williams had six points in 17 minutes to round out the Gaels' scorers.

The Gaels raced out to a 14-0 lead over the first four minutes as George Mason shot 0-for-5 with four turnovers to begin the game. The Patriots first field goal of the contest came at 14:26 as the Maroon & Gold held a 16-3 advantage. Two English free throws with 8:55 remaining in the half gave Iona its largest lead of the half at 34-5. The Gaels held a 20+ point margin until the final possession of the half when Patrick Holloway's three pointer cut lead to 44-25.

George Mason hit the first two field goals of the second half to cut within 15 points. Iona raced back with a 18-6 run and led 62-35 after a three-point play by Bowman. Two Poole free throws put Iona ahead by 32 points, 72-40 and gave the Gaels its largest advantage of the game with 7:32 remaining. Leading 88-65 with 2;14 left, the Maroon & Gold surrendered the eight of the final nine points of the game in its 16 point victory.

Patriot senior and nearby Mt. Vernon native Sherrod Wright posted 12 points and five boards. Marco Gujanicic had 12 points and six rebounds while Bryon Allen and Corey Edwards each had 10 in the loss.
