NEW ROCHELLE, NY - Following the completion of the first two Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships this winter, the Iona College athletic department remains atop the 2013-14 Academy Bus MAAC Commissioner's Cup Standings.

The Gaels maintain their lead following a historic fall which saw MAAC titles from both men's and women's cross country programs. Both extended the national's longest active cross country conference championship streaks with the men now at 23 in a row and the women at nine.

Iona's other three programs competing in head-to-head action during the regular season each finished in the top four in their respective sports. Men's and women's soccer finished third overall while volleyball was third and all three participated in the MAAC Championship tournament event.

Two weeks ago, the men's and women's swimming and diving programs finished seventh and sixth respectively at their MAAC Championships in Buffalo. This past Friday night, men's and women's indoor track competed for a MAAC title at the armory. The men's squad finished third while the women were fourth.

Next up for the Gaels is 2014 MAAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships in Springfield, MA from Mar. 6-10. Iona is positioned to earn top points in both sports as each team sits at the top of the standings entering the final weekend of the regular season.
