Golf Takes 22nd At Whiting-Turner Towson Invite

GRASONVILLE, MD - The Iona College golf team finished 22nd in its first tournament of the season, the Whiting-Turner Towson Invite, completed Tuesday morning at Prospect Bay CC. The Gaels garnered a second round score of 338 and completed the two day event with a score of 682 (+106).

Junior Evan DeLuca was Iona's top finisher, shooting an 12-over 84 in round two and finishing tied for 91st with a score of 165 (+21).

Freshman Brian Fitzpatrick carded a 13-over 85 on the second day, and finished tied for 102th with a score of 171 (+27).

Junior Tom McHugh matched his day one round with a second round score of 14-over 86, and finished tied for 106th with a score of 172 (+28).

Junior Taylor Bellemare trimmed eight shots off his first round score with an 11-over 83 on day two, and finished 108th with a score of 174 (+30).

The Gaels are back in action Sunday for the first day of competition at the Lafayette Invitational in Easton, PA.
