As a team, the Gaels took 26 shots and grabbed 22 ground balls. The Maroon & Gold had the advantage in draw controls, 14-9 with junior Jenna Tolzmann collecting six.
In the first half, Giordano stopped an early 2-0 run by the Bears to cut the deficit to one. Brown rallied off four unanswered goals before Giordano and Murphy connected to cut the Bears lead to 6-3. The Gaels went into halftime trailing 9-3.
Iona tallied the first score of the second frame, as Giordano completed a hat trick to trim the deficit to five. The Gaels will complete non-conference play on Sunday, Mar. 19 at La Salle.
