NEW YORK - Senior Jordan Washington of the Iona College men's basketball program has been named to the All-Met First Team as announced by the Met Basketball Writers Association on Monday.
Last season, Washington was named a All-Met Third Team representative. The forward earned First Team accolades this season by ranking third in the MAAC in scoring (18.0 ppg), fifth in rebounding (7.6 rpg) and third in double doubles (9). He also landed 15th in the nation with 236 free throw attempts while also ranking 28 in the country with 233 field goals made.
Kevin Willard of Seton Hall has been selected the All-Met Division I men’s college basketball Coach of the Year for a second consecutive season. Meanwhile, Justin Robinson of Monmouth was named a repeat All-Met First Team selection, while Khadeen Carrington and Angel Delgado of Seton Hall were both elevated from the Second Team last season to the First Team this year. The rest of the All-Met First Team included Jerome Frink of LIU and Shamorie Ponds of St. John’s.
The winner of the Lt. Frank J. Haggerty Award as All-Met Men’s Player of the Year will be announced by the MBWA on Wednesday. Named to the Second Team for 2016-17: Marcus LoVett, St. John’s; Justin Wright-Foreman, Hofstra; Desi Rodriguez, Seton Hall; Tyler Nelson, Fairfield; Quadir Welton, St. Peter’s; Corey Sanders, Rutgers. The Third Team: Michael Carey, Wagner; Micah Seaborn, Monmouth; Lucas Woodhouse, Stony Brook; Luke Petrasek, Columbia; Quincy McKnight, Sacred Heart; Damon Lynn, NJIT.
