The Iona College Men's Soccer team joined with the Best Buddies of New York and played a kickball game on Friday, March 6.
The game featured the Gaels along with other volunteers playing along side intellectually disabled adults through Best Buddies. Best Buddies is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to enhancing the lives
of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for
one-to-one friendships and integrated employment. Best Buddies' six formal programs – Best Buddies Middle Schools, High Schools,
Colleges, Citizens, e -Buddies® and Jobs – will positively impact more
than 350,000 individuals this year. Best
Buddies volunteers annually contribute services to the community that
equate to more than $70 million USD.
The Iona College Pipe Band opened up the night before the games began. Iona and Best Buddies have been participating in events together since the college chapter was founded in 1995.
