Purpose of the SAAC:
- To encourage communication between the Athletics Department and student- athletes.
- To provide a forum for student-athletes to discuss issues of concern regarding Athletics Department policies and procedures, as well as current and proposed legislation by the NCAA.
- To promote unity between and among athletic teams at Iona College.
- To encourage support for the Iona College Athletics Department in both the campus and local communities through service activities.
- To attend all monthly meetings and SAAC related activities. Monthly meetings will be held on the second Tuesday of every month during the college activity hour.
- To organize team members to participate in any SAAC related activities.
- To inform teammates of SAAC meeting discussions and obtain feedback and insight to be used to best represent the interests of the team.
- Each team will be required to perform one community service act per semester.
- The SAAC will be responsible for one community service event per year.
- The SAAC will be responsible for one SAAC event per year.
- All offices will serve a one-year term and will be elected by the SAAC. The following are the offices and their main responsibilities:
- President - Assist the Moderator in organizing SAAC meetings and communicating messages to the SAAC members.
- Vice President - Assist the President in functions of the SAAC and obtain responsibility in the President's absence.
- Treasurer - Manage committee funds; assist in reconciling individual events.
- Secretary - Record meeting minutes; write and deliver all proposed statements from the SAAC to the Administration.
All offices will serve a one-year term and will be elected by the SAAC. The following are the offices and their main responsibilities as decided by the SAAC:
- President - Prepare and facilitate SAAC meetings and communicate messages to the SAAC members with the assistance of the Moderator.
- Vice President - Assist the President in functions of the SAAC and obtain responsibility in the President's absence. Help SAAC members coordinate their team community service activities.
- Treasurer - Manage committee funds; assist in reconciling individual events. Lead/coordinate community service events associated with fund raising.
- Secretary- Record meeting minutes; write and deliver all proposed statements from the SAAC to the Administration. Send meeting minutes to the SAAC members and moderator after each meeting. Prepare and send monthly e-mails to the Iona Community with upcoming athletic events and athletic accomplishments from the previous months.
- SGA Representative- Attend weekly SGA meetings as the SAAC representative. Provide SGA with athletic updates and provide SGA reports at the SAAC meetings.
