NEW ROCHELLE, NY - On Friday, Oct. 16, the Iona College community celebrated the start of the 2009-10 men's and women's basketball seasons with its annual Maroon Madness event at the Hynes Athletics Center.

The night featured appearances by the Iona College cheerleaders, dance team, and pipe band, as well as special performances from Born Talent and the women's basketball team. The Hynes Center was completely packed and fans were treated to plenty of giveaways and entertaining contests that kept them cheering throughout the evening.

To add to the spirit of Iona's homecoming weekend, the end of the night was topped off with a banner competition from various groups on campus, and the announcement of the 2009 Homecoming court.

It was a great night for the Maroon & Gold and a great kick-off to the new season!
