On the fifth day of a seven-day, 14 workout training trip, the Iona College men's and women's swimming squads took on Loyola and Butler in a 15-event friendly invitational format held at the University of Sacred Heart's.

As has been the formula all season, the Iona breaststroke corps led the charge. On the men's side it was Junior Chris Yacobacci and sophomore Chris Giovine posting a top finish in the 100-Breaststroke. Yacobacci remains undefeated this season in the event. Giovine, returning to action after missing the early portion of the season with an illness, and according to Coach Nick Cavataro "looked very close to top form".

The women's event saw Sophomore Kerri-Anne Dodenhoff take the 100-Breast race and classmate Brigitte Doughty, backed up her classmate with a third place finish.

Other Iona finishers in the top-six included backstrokers’ sophomore Maria Skeivys and junior Michael Wu. In the 50-Free junior Theresa Harvey took second, while sophomore Ryan Bacci and junior Kristen Bocago going three-four in the same event. Senior Mackenzie Mone finished second and sophomore Justin Grigull took third on the men's side in the 100-free.

The 100-Butterfly had sophomore Tyler Elfert take third with classmate Nick Kontias fifth.

The Women's 200-Medley Relay quartet of Skeivys, Harvey, Mone and sophomore Sophia Hyokyvaara took second as did the men's team of Yacobacci, Elfert, Grigull, and sophomore Mark Wallace

Iona returns to action on February 20 as the Gaels will host Fordham University on senior day at 4 p.m.
