NEW ROCHELLE, NY - This past May, six Iona student-athletes were named to Delta Epsilon Sigma, the National Scholastic Honor Society for Colleges in the Catholic Tradition.
Delta Epsilon is the most prestigious Honor Society to which Iona students may be elected. Fewer than 8% of the graduating class are members. Students have to meet a certain GPA threshold (3.5), but in addition to that, have be nominated by the professors within their own majors.
The professors base their choice on students exhibiting enthusiasm for the intellectual life and demonstrating a spirit of service. To be elected to Delta Epsilon Sigma is a unique Iona honor.
Named to Delta Epsilon Sigma were senior Caitlin McGregor, women's swimming & water Polo; senior Ryan Scott, men's water polo; senior Chelsea Sheehan, softball; senior Daniel Lipus, men's ross Country & track; senior Jenny Kurz, Cross Country & Track; junior Alvaro Torrecilla, men's soccer.
